Pastor MICHAEL W. DYSON

Pastor Michael W. Dyson was born in Havre-de-Grace, Maryland. He grew up in Dayton, Ohio the youngest of eight children. His parent came into the knowledge of the Adventist faith in the 1950s under Elders William Irving, Bill Scales, Jr., and Elder Brewer in Conowingo, Maryland.

His family became members of the Ethan Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church in Dayton under the leadership of Elder Danny Davis. Upon high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and while stationed in Columbus, Ohio, he met his future wife Helena Ely, a student at Capital University. She soon graduated as a registered nurse and later received a commission in the U.S. Navy. Two sons were born to them while stationed in Jacksonville, Florida as members of Ephesus SDA Church. The family spent 6 years living abroad in Okinawa, Japan. It is here where Pastor Dyson first received his call to the ministry. Pastor Dyson is a highly decorated retired U.S. Marine after 25 years of faithful service. Upon his retirement, he graduated from Hampton University in Virginia and the Seminary of Andrews University in Michigan with a Masters of Personal Ministry degree and a Master of Divinity equivalency.

He is a son of the Allegheny East Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Conference Corporation for 16 years with a strong passion for ministry connecting people to Christ. He’s been recognized for many special achievements, including being awarded Conference Prison Ministry Pastor of the Year on two separate occasions. He is an Amazing Facts Media Ministry Certified Evangelist, conducting prophecy seminars throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa.


His previous pastoral assignments have been in southern Virginia, Central
Pennsylvania, and Baltimore. Next month, he will complete a year-long clinical training as a Resident Chaplain at the Veteran’s Hospital in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Helena, now a retired Navy Nurse Commander serves currently as Associate Chief Nurse for Surgery of the Lebanon Veterans Hospital, Pennsylvania. Dyson and his college sweetheart have been married over 34 years.

They are blessed with two adult sons and their families. Michael, a hospital telemetric specialist and National Guard Reservist, and his wife Amanda, a pediatric nurse, live in Charlotte, North Carolina with their first child Eli Sergio Dyson.J Their youngest son is Patrick, a commercial airline pilot with FedEx, and his bride Romina, a traveling registered nurse, reside in Dusseldorf, Germany.
